TheWell box for BibleOL training

The Online Professor offers an intensive week long course in Addis Abeba in Ethiopia January 2025.

The course is offered as part of the Global Learning Initiative (https://new.global-learning.org) and in a collaboration with the Danish Mission Promissio (https://promissio.dk/).

It is the third phase of TheWell BibleOL project (download flyer Click HERE) and will continue to train local instructors as operators of TheWell Box (https://thewell.systems/)

Bible Online Learner was introduced for Bible translation advisors in training at Wycliffe Ethiopia in August 2023. TheWell box solution was tested by three private students during 2024  in order to train potential instructors of advisors in Bible translation.

The intensive course takes place on January 20-24, 9 am – 4 pm at Evangelical Theological College in Addis Abeba. Four of their students will participate and for two students from Wycliffe Ethiopia. The course focuses on both hands-on training for practice as well as supervision for beginners and exercises and advanced level lectures for instructors in training:

• Beginners’ level: After this week students without any prior knowledge of Hebrew will be able to read the Creation Account of Genesis 1 and continue learning through a local guide. I and my team of Ethiopian instructor students will supervise their learning exercises in Amharic. After this initial week we will track the performance of beginners in order to explore to what extent they have the potential, skills and dedication to continue learning Biblical Hebrew online. We want them eventually to qualify to move on to the next basic level of Hebrew instruction.
• Advanced level:  Students in instructor training will continue to improve their reading skills and linguistic understanding through practice of reading and parsing of Jonah 1, 3 and 4 and The Online Professor will train students in the new method of analysis called DePaCK. Other local students and staff with proficiency in basic Biblical Hebrew may take have the opportunity to attend this instruction. The intensive week will prepare for participation in a subsequent online Master Class that will allow them to pass the proficiency tests available for Bible Online Learner.
